Creativity | 2011. 2. 26. 17:16 | Posted by 스마트 안전보건

Apple today has released the very first developer preview version of

Mac OS X 10.7 Lion. Announced back in October last year,

Lion and is a significant update to OS X, bringing a lot of iOS features

that work so well on iPod touch, iPhone and iPad to the desktop OS X.

Full press release is as follows:

Apple Releases Developer Preview of Mac OS X Lion

CUPERTINO, California—February 24, 2011—Apple® today released a developer preview of Mac OS® X Lion, which takes some of the best ideas from iPad™ and brings them back to the Mac® for the eighth major release of the world’s most advanced operating system. Lion features Mission Control, an innovative new view of everything running on your Mac; Launchpad, a new home for all your Mac apps; full screen apps that use the entire Mac display; and new Multi-Touch™ gestures. Lion also includes the Mac App Store℠, the best place to discover, install and automatically update Mac apps. The Lion preview is available to Mac Developer Program members through the Mac App Store today, and the final version of Lion will ship to customers this summer.

“The iPad has inspired a new generation of innovative features in Lion,” said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing. “Developers are going to love Mission Control and Launchpad, and can now start adding great new Lion features like full screen, gestures, Versions and Auto Save to their own apps.”

mac-app-store.png

Mission Control is a powerful, entirely new feature that unifies Exposé®, Dashboard, Spaces®, and full screen apps to give you a bird’s eye view of every app and window running on your Mac. With a simple swipe, your desktop zooms out to display your open windows grouped by app, thumbnails of your full screen apps as well as your Dashboard, and allows you to instantly navigate anywhere with a click.

Launchpad makes it easier than ever to find and launch any app. With a single click, Launchpad displays all your Mac apps in a stunning full screen layout where you can launch, re-order or organize apps into folders. You can also arrange apps into multiple pages and swipe between them.

Lion brings the full screen experience that iPad users love to the Mac. With one click, your application window goes full screen, taking advantage of your Mac’s brilliant display. You can swipe from one full screen window to another and even back to your Desktop or Dashboard.

New Multi-Touch gestures and fluid animations give you a natural and intuitive way to interact with your Mac. New gestures include pinching your fingers to zoom in on a web page or image, swiping left or right to turn a page or switch between full screen apps and swiping up to enter Mission Control.

Lion also includes the Mac App Store, where you can find great new apps, buy them with your iTunes® account, and download and install them in just one step. Apps purchased from the Mac App Store are installed directly into Launchpad.

Additional features in Lion include:

  • a new version of Mail, with an elegant, widescreen layout inspired by the iPad; Conversations, which automatically groups related messages into one easy to read timeline; more powerful search; and support for Microsoft Exchange 2010;
  • AirDrop, a remarkably simple way to copy files wirelessly from one Mac to another with no setup;
  • Versions, which automatically saves successive versions of your document as you create it, and gives you an easy way to browse, edit and even revert to previous versions;
  • Resume, which conveniently brings your apps back exactly how you left them when you restart your Mac or quit and relaunch an app;
  • Auto Save, which automatically saves your documents as you work;
  • the all new FileVault, that provides high performance full disk encryption for local and external drives, and the ability to wipe data from your Mac instantaneously; and
  • Mac OS X Lion Server, which makes setting up a server easier than ever and adds support for managing Mac OS X Lion, iPhone®, iPad and iPod touch® devices.

Mac OS X Lion Developer Preview can be downloaded by the users

registered on Mac Developer Program.

These are 8 key features of Mac OS X 10.7 Lion.

How to open a new project in iMovie

Creativity | 2011. 2. 23. 10:00 | Posted by 스마트 안전보건

This is the way you should follow to, when iMovie doesn't open

a new project itself.

I have tried to open it a hundred times, but it wouldn't.

Finally I got a solution about this problem.

Follow these sequences.

1. Close iMovie
2. Go to Users > your account > Library > Preferences

스크린샷_2011-02-22_오후_5.50.28.png

3. Find this file: com.apple.iMovieApp.plist
스크린샷_2011-02-22_오후_5.50.19.png
4. Delete it.
5. Re-Launch iMovie.

It will rebuild the Events Library, iPhoto thumbnails, etcs. And your Projects will return.

How to use WolframAlpha

Creativity | 2011. 2. 22. 06:00 | Posted by 스마트 안전보건

There is a newer website called Wolfram Alpha that has gone public--

and has been compared to Google or even Wikipedia--but in actuality

it is not meant to do what either of those do.

wa-logo.png

Wolfram Alpha is a computational knowledge engine. It doesn't do rearches;

it does computations. In this article I will explain a bit about how it's used--

so that you can see if it is the right tool to gather the data you need.

    • 1Wolfram Alpha ResultsWolfram Alpha Results

Since Wolfram Alpha computes answers, you must

query it with something that can be computed.

Here, for example, I asked it for the population of

Los Angeles. It returned the number and built a graph

showing population growth over several decades.

    • 2Wolfram Alpha ResultsWolfram Alpha Results

I asked it about AT&T stock. I got a huge page of

results, including the current price, the business

fundamentals about the company, recent returns,

a price history, performance and comparisons,

a daily return analysis, future projections and more.

    • 3Wolfram Alpha ResultsWolfram Alpha Results

Wolfram Alpha does math, of course, even calculus.

I didn't know how to ask it something about calculus,

but I gave it a simple equation to solve.

    • 4Wolfram Alpha ResultsWolfram Alpha Results

You can compare items with a forward slash (/) between

them. For example, I typed GDP USA / China in the query.

The results were expressed as an equation,

a value and shown on a graph.

    • 5

You can also use a plus sign (+) between items. For example,

I typed blue+red and got results showing the color created by combining

these two colors, along with a variety of ways to express the color mathematically

in HTML. Complementary colors and a color triad were also given.

How to setup auto shutdown of your Mac computers

Creativity | 2011. 2. 15. 01:11 | Posted by 스마트 안전보건

If you often forget to shut down your Macintosh laptop, you can schedule

an automatic shut down that closes all applications on the laptop

and powers it off. The auto-shutdown mode can be set to occur every day;

on the weekends or during the week at a specific time based on the schedule

settings in your Energy Saver preferences. By automatically shutting down

your Macintosh computer when you are unable to manually do so,

you preserve the battery's health and prevent wasted electricity caused by

continuous use, according to Joe Hutsko, author of "Macs All-in-One For Dummies."

set-auto_shutdown-mode-mac-laptop-800X800.jpg

Instructions

  1. Select "System Preferences" from the "Apple" menu, located at the top of

    your Macintosh's screen.

  2. Click the "Power" or "Energy Saver" icon, and click the "Schedule" button

in the lower-right corner of the window. Click the empty box beneath

"Start up or wake" to add a check to the box. Click the arrow on the menu

to the right of the checked box, and select "Shut Down."

  3. Click the middle drop-down menu, and select "Every Day," "Weekends" or

"Weekdays" from the menu depending on your preference.

Alternatively, select a specific day of the week from the menu.

  4. Type the time you want to schedule the automatic shutdown,

and enter "AM" or "PM" in the field. Click the OK button to save

    the automatic shutdown rules.

Apple Mac App Store open

Creativity | 2011. 1. 7. 22:11 | Posted by 스마트 안전보건

세계적으로 선풍적인 인기를 끌어왔으며, 이제는 'Back to the Mac'이라는 주제로

그렇게 해서 아이폰과 아이패드에서 배운 노하우를 다시 원래의 원천 기술인 맥 컴퓨터에

적용을 시도하고 있습니다. 그래서 맥 앱 스토어가 탄생하게 된 것이구요.

http://www.apple.com/mac/app-store/

스크린샷_2011-01-07_오전_5.59.20.png

With the Mac App Store, getting the apps you want on your Mac has never been easier.

No more boxes, no more disks, no more time-consuming installation. Click once to

download and install any app on your Mac. The Mac App Store is now available

as a software update for any Mac running Mac OS X Snow Leopard.

apps_logo20110106.jpg

Great apps for your Mac. Right on your Mac.

The Mac App Store is just like the App Store for iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad.

So it’s as easy to find and download Mac apps as it is to add your favorite magazine

to iPad or a new game to iPod touch. You can browse Mac apps by category,

such as games, productivity, music, and more. Or do a quick search for something

specific. Read developer descriptions and user reviews. Flip through screenshots.

When you find an app you like, click to buy it.

laptop_click_20110106.png

Install any app with ease.

The Mac App Store revolutionizes the way applications are installed on a computer —

it happens in one step. Enter the same iTunes password you use to buy music and

apps on your Mac, iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch. Within seconds, your new app flies

to your Dock, ready to go. So you can spend more time enjoying new apps

and less time installing them.

uptodate_screenshot_20110106.png

Keep your apps up to date.

Since developers are constantly improving their apps, the App Store for Mac keeps

track of your apps and tells you when an update is available. Update one app

at a time or all of them at once, and you’ll always have the latest version of every app.

6 predictions of social network in 2011

Creativity | 2011. 1. 4. 06:31 | Posted by 스마트 안전보건

The past year was an eventful one for the world of social networking.

Facebook went on an acquisition spree. Twitter started growing up.

And MySpace? Well it’s the same old story over there.

In 2010, we predicted that Facebook would conquer the web. We just didn’t know the social network

would do it so convincingly. We’re not oracles, though, and we did miss on some of

our acquisition picks. Well, time for round two.

Now that FacebookFacebook is clearly king, what is going to happen to the rest of the world’s social networks?

What will happen to BeboBebo? What’s next for MySpaceMySpace? And will Facebook finally hold that IPO?

Here are my predictions for what will happen in the world of social networking in 2011:

1. Google’s Social Networking Efforts Flop Spectacularly

Google dominates search. It has nailed mobile. Oh, and it owns YouTube, the web’s biggest video

property. So why the heck does it fail so miserably at social?

Until this year, Google’s had middling success in social — YouTube, Gmail, Gtalk, Blogger and Orkut

have all had varying levels of success. This year though, Google Wave was shut down, Google Buzz

flopped and Google’s big social initiative has been delayed due to in-fighting and a lack of clarity and purpose.

Here’s my first prediction of the year: Google’s social media efforts will be spectacular failures. TechCrunch

nabbed a screenshot of the “Google +1″ social toolbar, one big component of Google’s social plan, we’ve

been told. We remain unimpressed, though. As Buzz demonstrated, sticking something social on a page

doesn’t mean people will instantly use it.

More importantly, Google as a company is built for speed and efficiency, neither of which are critical to the

success of a social network. That’s why we predict another horrendous year for the search giant in the social realm.

2. A Middling MySpace Is Sold Off

Despite a total redesign and overhaul, MySpace continues to plummet like a boulder pushed off a cliff.

While we’re fans of the social network’s attempt to reinvent itself as a “social entertainment destination,”

the frank truth is that MySpace is bleeding money and there’s no end in sight to the bloodshed.

Eventually MySpace will bottom out; we just don’t know when. It won’t come soon enough for News Corp.

though, and it will start looking for someone to take its high-profile Internet property off of its hands.

MySpace is still a valuable asset in the right hands, so somebody will pick it up.

3. Bebo Gets a New Owner… Again

Bebo’s fall from grace is one of the sad stories of social networking. When we first covered Bebo in 2006,

it was on its way to becoming a powerhouse. In 2008, AOL acquired Bebo for $850 million, an astounding

(and overvalued) price point.

Six months ago, AOL sold Bebo for about $10 million to Criterion Capital Partners. Then they made a few

big moves: they hired Kevin Bachus, co-creator of the Xbox, and brought Bebo co-founder Michael Birch back

as an advisor and investor.

Bebo’s still shrinking though. Unless Birch and Bachus can orchestrate a comeback of Rocky proportions,

Criterion Capital Partners will start looking to make money on its investment or at least minimize its loss.

Even if it makes a comeback, Criterion’s reportedly interested in selling Bebo this year.

We expect Bebo to be in new hands by this time next year. The most likely acquirers, we believe, would

be a group led by Birch himself.

4. No Facebook IPO in 2011

There have been countless rumors about a Facebook IPO since 2007. The media has been waiting

with baited breath for the day that Mark Zuckerberg cashes in on his baby and turns his company public.

I’m here to tell the media: Don’t hold your breath.

I could create a list of reasons the size of an SUV why Facebook and its billionaire leader aren’t going

to be raising money on the public markets. Here are just a few of them:

  • Mark Zuckerberg is famously uninterested in money. He believes in delayed gratification and has
  • lived in a modest home for years — he’s the opposite of the far more extravagant Larry Ellison,
  • co-founder and CEO of Oracle. In other words, he’s in no rush for a big payday.
  • Secondary markets like Sharespost have changed the game for cashing out on investments.
  • In the past, VCs needed to cash out on their investments by acquisition or IPO, but as Accel
  • Partners proved last month, VCs no longer need an IPO to do so.
  • Zuckerberg sees no strategic advantage to an IPO. In fact, it’s just a lot more paperwork, headaches
  • and scrutiny. He’d love to delay that as long as possible.
  • Facebook doesn’t believe it’s ready for an IPO: “Facebook would benefit from another year of growth
  • absent the added scrutiny that comes with a public listing,” Business Week reported earlier this year.

The result is that there won’t be a Facebook IPO in 2011. So long as the company’s growth metrics are

strong, Facebook has no need for the public markets. When it hits its saturation point though, that’s when

you should expect the social network to make its move. I predict that will happen in 2012.

5. Twitter Has a Very Boring 2011

While I don’t consider Twitter a social network, many people do, so it’s only appropriate that

I provide a prediction for what will happen to Twitter in 2011.

Unfortunately, I couldn’t come up with anything interesting: Twitter’s going to have a steady

and boring 2011.

Sure, Twitter will launch new features, and senior execs will continue to step down and new people

will take their place, but that’s what happens to any maturing business. Now that Twitter has new funding,
has launched its ad platform and has launched a complete redesign, is there an earth-shattering event

that could take us by surprise?

I don’t discount it; I just don’t predict there will be one. An IPO makes no sense with the new round of

funding. A redesign isn’t necessary. Really, Twitter is focused on its ad platform and will launch features

that enhance it. Twitter will slowly continue to grow, but I don’t expect Facebook-like hockey stick growth.

In 2011, Twitter is going to be one of the most boring social media services around. And I know

the Twitter team is just fine with that.

6. The Social Networking Trend of 2011: Mobile Photos

Pokorny was discussing during his Ignite talk at the Web 2.0 Summit in San Francisco. He argued that

publishing has evolved from the desktop (blogging) to the phone (tweeting) to the smartphone (photo-taking).

While social photography is nothing new (Flickr and Facebook dominate), mobile photography is just

beginning to blossom, thanks to apps like Instagram, PicPlz, Path, and Dailybooth. Other services like

Tumblr, Gowalla, Posterous and most recently Foursquare are only pushing the trend further.

2011 will be the year mobile photo sharing becomes all the rage. These services will hit critical mass as

smartphone users install apps in order to keep up with their friends. I also predict that Facebook will join

the fray and implement new mobile photo-sharing features integrated with its Places platform, bringing

the whole trend to another level.

How to make your FireFox browse fast

Creativity | 2011. 1. 4. 06:24 | Posted by 스마트 안전보건

Mozilla Firefox is a graphical web browser developed by the Mozilla Corporation. Started as a fork of the browser component (Navigator) of the Mozilla Application Suite, Firefox has replaced the Mozilla Suite as the flagship product of the Mozilla project, stewarded by the Mozilla Foundation and a large community of external contributors.

Mozilla Firefox is a cross-platform browser, providing support for various versions of Microsoft Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux. Although not officially released for certain operating systems, the freely available source code works for many other operating systems, including FreeBSD,OS/2, Solaris, SkyOS, BeOS and more recently, Windows XP Professional x64 Edition.

I am providing some Very Useful Tips to speedup your Firefox.

Some more Tweaks

Enable the spellchecker for inputfields and textareas (default is textareas only)

layout.spellcheckDefault=2

Open lastfm://-links directly in amarok

network.protocol-handler.app.lastfm=amarok
network.protocol-handler.external.lastfm=true
Firefox Memory Leak Fix

Open a new tab. Type “about:config” without quotes into the address bar and hit enter/click Go.

Right-click anywhere, select New, then Integer. In the dialog prompt that appears, type:

browser.cache.memory.capacity

Click OK. Another dialog prompt will appear. This is where you decide how much memory to allocate to Firefox.

This depends on how much RAM your computer has, but generally you don’t want to allocate too little (under 8MB),

but if you allocate too much, you might as well not do this. A good recommended setting is 16MB. If you want 16MB,

enter this value into the dialog prompt:

16384

(Why 16384 instead of 16000? Because computers use base-12 counting. Thus 16 megabytes = 16384 bytes.

Likewise, if you want to double that and allocate 32MB, you’d enter 32768.)

Click OK to close the dialog box, then close all instances of Firefox and restart. If your Firefox still uses the same

amount of memory, give it a few minutes and it should slowly clear up. If that fails, try a system reboot.

Now your Firefox will now be 3 - 30 times faster in loading pages.

How to make a QR code for your digital life

Creativity | 2011. 1. 3. 23:52 | Posted by 스마트 안전보건

Quick Pitch: JumpScan provides a custom “all-in-one” QR code to link

your physical and digital world.

jumpscan(1).jpg
Genius Idea: QR codes have been all the rage this year for big brands, and now

ordinary consumers and small businesses can get in on the fun, too.

JumpScan lets users create customized QR codes that combine all your contact

information, including social media profiles, for on-the-go sharing.Think of it as

a QR-powered iteration of Flavors.me or About.me especially intended for mobile

phones.  It’s also a lot like a next-gen version of Contxts and similar services,

but it uses your phone’s camera instead of SMS for a smoother experience with

fewer actions between meeting and contacting a person.  As a user, when you

sign up for a JumpScan account, you’ll get to create a mobile landing page

by entering your contact information. You can add your e-mail address, phone

number, Facebook profile, Twitterand Flickr feeds and more.

Once you generate your own code, anyone with a smart phone can snap a picture

of the image to be automatically redirected to your own JumpScan page.

We can see this going over really well on the business cards of the digerati,

making the rounds at social media meetups and large conferences.

The startup is also pitching its codes as a great option for SMB advertising.

Here’s a quick demo video showing how the app works:
