Life & more | 2010. 12. 31. 13:47 | Posted by 스마트 안전보건

I have been waiting for snow for a month or so. Unlike last year, snow is very rare.

But I finally met snow today. It was much enough about 6 inches.

I love walking with snow, playing on the snow, but not driving in the snow.

It is always better safe than sorry. Drive safely and enjoy the winter.

This pictures are taken from Great Sand Dunes in Mosca, Colorado.

This sand dunes can tell you how nature are so wonderful and marvelous.

Everyone thinks that how sand dunes were formed next to mountains.

The reason is Hydrology. There are underground creeks under the sand

dunes, so the sand dunes are kind of floating on the water.

This sites will tell you more about Great Sand Dunes.

Pikes Peak in Colorado

Life & more | 2010. 12. 26. 16:48 | Posted by 스마트 안전보건

These photos are from Pikes Peak in Colorado Springs. I went up there in

Pikes Peak with my family on Dec. 23, 2010. It was a very nice trip and scenery

even though I couldn't go to the summit, Pikes Peak, due to the weather.

I could go up to 11,440 Ft out of 14,115 Ft, but the elevation I went is the highest

elevation to me ever. What a wonderful experience it is!

And this is some information about Pekes Peak.

Pikes Peak is the most visited mountain in North America and the second most

visited mountain in the world behind Japan's Mount Fuji, Pikes Peak forms a stunning

backdrop for Colorado Springs and the Garden of the Gods. At an altitude of 14,110

feet above sea level, Pikes Peak is the 31st highest peak out of 54 Colorado peaks.

It is the farthest east of the big peaks in the Rocky Mountain chain, which contributed

to its early fame among explorers, pioneers and immigrants and made it the symbol of

the 1859 Gold Rush to Colorado with the slogan, "Pikes Peak or Bust". The 8.9 mile

Cog Railway started operating year round in 2007 weather permitting.

Over a half million people reach the summit house every year by the Pikes Peak

Highway, Barr Trail or the Pikes Peak Cog Railway. The 19-mile Pikes Peak Highway,

paved part of the way, is open year round, weather permitting. Barr Trail is the longest

of any trails leading to the top of the 54 mountains in Colorado that are over 14,000 feet,

and offers the greatest base-to-summit elevation gain in the state: 7,400 feet. About

15,000 people a year attempt to climb Pikes Peak on foot. The 13-mile trail begins

at the base of Pikes Peak in Manitou Springs.

Three notable events take place on the mountain each year. The Pikes Peak Marathon,

a 26 mile round trip foot race up Barr Trail and then back down each August, draws

thousands of runners from all over the world. The current Pikes Peak Marathon record

which was set in 1993 is 3 hours 16 minutes 30 seconds. The second event, the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb on Sunday July 20, 2008 is a race on the 12.42 mile gravel road which starts around the 6 1/2 mile mark on the highway. In 2007 Nobuhiro Tajima set a new record of 10 minutes 1 second. The third event is the AdAmAn Club New Years Fireworks display on December 31 at midnight.

Loveland Ski Area in Colorado

Life & more | 2010. 12. 9. 03:29 | Posted by 스마트 안전보건

It’s What The Locals Know And Love

The center, or core, is where it all begins and where it all comes back to

in the end. Over seventy years ago the founders of Loveland Ski Area

discovered the core of great skiing in this mountain – an abundance of snow

from October through May, varied terrain and a close, easy trip from the city

of Denver. Loveland has stayed true to what the founders discovered and

what current locals refuse to let go of – great skiing and riding. To us, the core

of great skiing and riding is uncrowded slopes, short lift lines, free close-in parking

and fresh tracks all day long and days after a storm hits. This is the essence of

great Colorado skiing and riding. This is Core Colorado.

Check out Loveland Ski Area’s NEW website and while you’re there check out

the live cams, including one perched high atop the Continental Divide. Be sure to

sign up for e-snow news so that you can receive opening day alerts, event and

“insider” news and snow alerts each time we get some of that 400 inches of powder

we are so famous for.

MORE SNOW – LESS CROWDS – NO FUS

Best Known For

Loveland Ski Area is where Denver locals ski & ride. Sitting high atop The

Continental Divide, Loveland averages 400" of snow each season, more than

any Front Range or Summit County resort. Loveland is also just 53 miles from

Denver so it is a short drive from anywhere in the Front Range. While Loveland

has varied terrain for every ability, Loveland Valley provides beginners and first

timers with a separate base area and gentle slopes perfect for learning how to ski or ride.

This Just In

Loveland Ski Area was voted "Best Value" by the readers of Ski Magazine in their

2009 Reader's Poll. Loveland was also the first ski area in North America to open

for the 2009-2010 season. Loveland started the lifts on October 7, 2009 which was

the earliest opening in over 40 years.

Life & more | 2010. 11. 27. 22:31 | Posted by 스마트 안전보건

Idaho Springs has a population of 1,893 (and growing!) and is the largest town in

Clear Creek County. Idaho Springs and the Clear Creek County area offer many possibilities

for exploring the history of the area, recreational opportunities and other activities.

The Idaho Springs City Hall (shown at right) is the old Grass Valley School House.

In 1984 the school was due to be destroyed. The City of Idaho Springs bought the building

and had the school house moved to its current location. The building now holds City Hall,

the Idaho Springs Police Department and the Idaho Springs Municipal Court.

There are many hot springs in Idaho springs. Among them, I went to indian hot springs,

which was built in 1905. It is over 100 years old.

The building is quite old and looks like old but have something original about hot springs.

There are main resort rooms, inn room, lodge rooms, and cabin. It also has mineral water

swimming pool, cave bath, and private bath (like a small public bath in Korea).

For dinner, I went to an original colorado pizza restaurant in idaho springs.

Its name is Beau Jo's Pizza. The store has huge spaces and many people inside.

Pizza at Beau Jo's was so great with a big size.

Life & more | 2010. 11. 27. 22:05 | Posted by 스마트 안전보건

I went to Denver children museum with my family on Wednesday, 11/24.

When I see Denver children museum outside, it was like the remodeling of a old factory.

But inside the museum, there are a lot of fun and things for kids to learn and play.

스크린샷_2010-11-27_오전_6.00.21.png

스크린샷_2010-11-27_오전_6.00.31.png

Entrance fee is $8 for 2 years through 59 years. only under 1 year is free.

1 year baby and over 60 years old citizens are $6.

The museum is rather small and has 2 stories. There are a fire station and a fire car

in the 1st story. the 1st story has also a big room for babies and their families.

스크린샷_2010-11-27_오전_6.00.45.png

스크린샷_2010-11-27_오전_6.01.01.png

On the 2nd floor, there are many more fun than the 1st floor.

It has an art room to paint, 'Do it yourself' room for children to make their own product

by using recycling things, and a bubble room for kids and adults.

I like this bubble room, so that kids and adults can make various bubble on their own.
