One of Google Chrome's extensions, Speakit!, is a great web application that read a web page for you. All you have to do is to install it (Speakit!) from Google's Web Store, to select some paragraphs to be read, and then to click the 'Speakit!' app.
SpeakIt reads selected text using Google TTS (Text-to-Speech) with language auto-detection. It supports all languages supported by Google. Extension is still in beta test so bugs are expected. Usage: - First select the text you want it to read. - Then click the icon to start listening. - When it is ready to read, the number of sentences is shown on the icon. - To stop listening at any time click pause Note - After installation may SpeakIt may need to restart Chrome so to function correctly - This extension uses Google text-to-speech service. Known Issues: - don't work on encrypted web pages ( https:// ) - Some times Google may require to confirm that you are a human to do that visit this url: http://goo.gl/OOVgp and enter the ReCaptacha code
